ILLINOIS CANNING FACILITY – UCRETE® HF
This entire project is completed in just five days, keeping production at the facility running like clockwork.
A leading manufacturer of high-quality bean products specializing in ethnic canned foods, this canning facility also produces organic and all-natural, GMO-free products from its nearly 400,000 square feet of production, distribution and warehouse space in Illinois. The facility is FDA, SQF Level 2, USDA Organic, QAI Organic and Kosher (cRc) certified, and the company invests robustly in improvements to expand the range of products manufactured.
Surface Solutions recently resurfaced a 2,500 square foot section of the plant’s flooring using UCRETE® HF, an exceptionally durable concrete coating treatment that is ideal for canning environments because it is free of solvents, resistant to hot-water cleaning, steam, harsh chemicals, abrasion and impact, its slip resistance meets ADA recommendations and the quick installation limits production down time.
Working around and under existing equipment, our in-house installation team removes multiple layers of the existing delaminating epoxy mortar floor using chipping hammers and hand grinding. The crew set forms to slope the floor toward the drain trench, then fill with BASF Rapid Mortar 1060. After re-prepping, the UCRETE HF is troweled on at a thickness of ¼-inch.
